Privacy Policy
Carve is a puzzle game. It has no accounts, no sign-in, and no social features. It does not ask for your name, your email address, your photos, your contacts, or your location. This policy explains the small amount of data that is involved anyway — mostly because the Game shows ads and offers in-app purchases — and what happens to it.
1. What stays on your device
Everything you do in the Game is saved locally on your device, in the app’s own storage. That includes:
- Your puzzle progress and which puzzles you have completed.
- Your in-progress state for a puzzle you have not finished yet.
- Your play statistics, such as puzzles solved.
- Your preferences, such as sound, haptics, and language.
This information never leaves your device, and we cannot see it. There is no cloud save and no account, which also means that if you delete the Game, this information is deleted with it and cannot be recovered.
2. Advertising
Carve shows rewarded ads — optional video ads that you choose to watch in exchange for something in the Game, such as a hint or continuing after a mistake. You are never required to watch one, and no part of the Game is gated behind watching an ad.
These ads are served by Unity Ads, a service provided by Unity Technologies. When an ad is requested or shown, Unity receives certain technical and device information in order to select, deliver, and measure the ad. This typically includes information such as your device type and operating system, your general region (derived from your IP address), and an advertising identifier.
Unity processes this data as an independent controller under its own privacy policy, not ours. We do not receive this data, and we do not build any profile of you from it. You can read how Unity handles it here:
Tracking and the advertising identifier
Carve does not ask for permission to track you across other companies’ apps and websites. We do not present Apple’s App Tracking Transparency prompt, which means the Game does not access the identifier used for cross-app tracking (the IDFA) and does not link your activity to third-party data for advertising purposes.
Advertising measurement is handled instead through Apple’s SKAdNetwork, a privacy-preserving system built into iOS. SKAdNetwork reports whether an ad campaign led to an install, but it is designed by Apple so that this measurement is not tied to you or your device identity.
You can further limit personalised advertising at any time in Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising, and in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your device.
3. Purchases
Carve is free to download, and Chapter 1 is free to play. Further chapters can be unlocked individually, or all at once with a one-time purchase. There is no subscription.
All payments are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see, receive, or store your payment details — no card numbers, no billing address, nothing of the kind.
To keep track of what you have unlocked and to let you restore your purchases, the Game uses RevenueCat, a purchase-management service. For this purpose the Game generates a random, app-specific identifier (for example, carve_a7k2m…). This identifier is created on your device, is not derived from your name, email, Apple ID, or any device identifier, and is not used for advertising. Its only job is to associate a purchase with a licence so that your unlocked chapters keep working.
RevenueCat processes purchase-related data on our behalf as a service provider. You can read its policy here:
4. What we do not do
- We do not collect your name, email address, phone number, or contacts.
- We do not access your photos, camera, microphone, or location.
- We do not require an account, and there is nothing to sign in to.
- We do not sell or rent your information, and we do not share it with data brokers.
- We do not perform facial recognition or collect biometric data of any kind.
- We do not track you across other apps and websites.
5. Children
Carve is a logic puzzle game suitable for a general audience and contains no objectionable content. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Please note that the Game does display advertising supplied by a third party, as described in section 2. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a child has provided personal information through the Game, please contact us at support@larbsoft.com and we will address it.
6. Your rights and choices
Because the Game holds no account and stores your progress only on your device, there is no personal profile for us to hand over or erase — there simply isn’t one. In practice:
- To erase everything the Game has stored: delete the app. All local progress, statistics, and preferences go with it.
- To limit ad personalisation: use the iOS privacy settings described in section 2.
- For data held by our third-party services: Unity and RevenueCat each provide their own privacy controls and contact routes, linked above.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights under laws such as the GDPR or the CCPA to access, correct, or delete personal information. If you would like to exercise those rights, write to us at support@larbsoft.com and we will help as far as we are able. We do not sell personal information as that term is defined under the CCPA.
7. Security
Data held on your device is protected by your device’s own security and app sandboxing. Where the Game communicates with a third-party service, such as for ads or purchases, that connection is encrypted in transit using HTTPS/TLS.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy — for example, if the Game gains a new feature or changes an advertising provider. When we do, we will revise the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Game after a change means you accept the updated policy.
